Mr. Cheng Jiansun, male, Chinese Han nationality, born in August 1957 in Yishui, Shandong province, is a doctor of engineering science and a member of Communist party. Presently he is teaching in South China Institute of Technology and is the dean of Chinese Architecture Institute. Between September 1978 and July 1982, he studied in Shandong construction engineering institute and won a bachelor¡¯s degree in engineering. Between September 1984 and July 1987, he studied in South China University of Engineering, and won a bachelor¡¯s degree in engineering. Between April 1994 and March 1997, he was invited to Australia, Italy, Britain, Hongkong and other places to give lectures for many times. In March 2000, he was retained as a professor. In March 2001, he was engaged as a doctoral supervisor, in 1992, he began to enjoy special government allowance. Once he was appointed as vice-director of architecture department, meanwhile, he was appointed as director of history branch of Chinese architecture academy, a commissioner of environmental art committee in Guangdong province, editorial board member of ¡°Construction in central China¡± and editorial board member of ¡°Ancient architecture and garden skills¡±.
In 1996 he was appraised as an advanced worker in cultural relic protection in Guangzhou, engaged in the teaching and research of architecture history and theories for a long time. Research areas involve protection and restoration of traditional architecture, design and theories of traditional architecture. He had got a high accomplishment in protection, remedy skills and traditional design of ancient architecture. He took part in and presided eight research projects, among which the project of ¡°Research of Chinese ancient architecture design theories¡± won the third prize of scientific progress of state education commission, he has published 50 dissertations on many periodicals such as ¡°New architecture¡±, ¡°Central China architecture¡±, ¡°City planning collection¡±, ¡°Ancient architecture garden technique¡±, ¡°Archeology and cultural relics¡± and so on. His main dissertations are ¡°Elementary research of Ya Bai Chi method¡±, ¡°A research of building theories of Ancient architecture¡± and ¡°A research of reversion of Nanhai god temple hall¡±.
He published many books successively, such as ¡°Fengshui and construction¡± by Jiangxi science and technology press in 1992, ¡°Chinese ancient architecture and Zhouyi philosophy¡± by Jilin education press in 1992, ¡°Chinese Fengshui Compass¡± by Jiangxi science and technology press in 1998, ¡°Chinese Fengshui Compass¡± by Jiangxi science and technology in 1999, ¡°Research of architecture framework of ancient great palace in Lingnan¡± by Chinese architecture industry press in 1991, ¡°Chinese architecture art history¡± by Cultural relics press in 2000, ¡°Chinese traditional architecture¡± by Chinese architecture industry press in 1991. What¡¯s more, he compiled many books with others, such as ¡°An appreciation of famous building home and abroad¡± by Tongji University press in 1997, ¡°Great encyclopedia of Guangzhou¡± by Guangzhou people¡¯s press in 1996. He was in charge of over 40 provincial-level and city-level restoration projects of cultural relics and constructions, such as Guang Xiao Temple in Guangzhou, South sea temple in Guangzhou. He delivered many lectures such as Chinese architecture history, History construction mapping, Protection and restoration of ancient architecture, Chinese architecture and culture, Modern and traditional architecture design. He once coached 16 master degree candidates and three Ph.D candidates.
